449 climbers scaled Mt. Everest this spring season

Kathmandu:  A total of 449 climbers reached the summit of Mount Everest this spring season, including 190 foreigners of different expedition teams.

The number of Nepali guides and climbers to scale Mt. Everest this season was 259 according to Department of Tourism.

More than 375 mountaineers from different 42 expeditions had taken permits to scale world’s highest mountain  this year. The number of climbers permitted to scale different mountains of Nepal this season was 840.

Besides Mt. Everest , nine climbers scaled Annapurna , and 95 climbers reached the summit of Lhotse.

Similarly, 26 climbers scaled Makalu and 59 climbers set foot on the summit of Dhaulagiri.

So far a total of 5,324 climbers have reached the summit of Mt.Everest since Edmund Hilary and Tenzing Norgay Sherpa first conquered the world’s tallest 8,848 metre Himalaya in 1953.

Five climbers Ueli Steck of Switzerland , Min Bahadur Sherchan of Nepal , American doctor Roland Yearwood, Slovak climber Vladimir Strba and an Indian climber Ravi Kumar lost their lives this year
